チャグチャグ馬コのスケッチI went and saw a festival called "Chagu Chagu Umakko (チャグチャグ馬コ) " a week ago.
It is a horse festival in Morioka city and Takizawa village in Iwate prefecture, Japan.
In the past, Iwate used to be a horse‐breeding district, so almost every farmhouse had horses. The festival is held on the second Saturday in June, and people pray to God for horse's health and welfare. About one hundred horses wearing colorful cloth and bells parade between Sozen Jinja in Takizawa and MoriokaHachiman-gū.
"Chagu Chagu" describes the sound of bells ringing.Even though we are living in Morioka city, My husband and I have never seen this festival before.
I brought a sketchbook, and drew some pictures.
The farm horses were so big and powerful! I enjoyed sketching very much.
I want to go see it next year too!
